robinair with pump

There are a few choices for vacuum pump oil but we chose to go with Robinair because:

1. It’s one of only two oils recommended by Harvest Right for the premiere pump and perfectly fine for all pumps.

2. As Robinair states –“Laboratory tests prove that Robinair oil is more thermally stable in comparison to other leading brands, which means it resists breaking down due to heat for a longer period of time.”

And

3. It’s readily available, comes in 3 different sizes and it’s priced right.

One thing you’ll learn quickly about freeze drying is that your pump runs for extended periods.

Your machine will sometimes run for DAYS or even WEEKS on end without much rest. These kinds of conditions require the best oil on the market and that’s why we use Robinair.

Alternative Brands

The following brands are common alternatives for your vacuum pump.

NOTE: Pay close attention to the Dairyland oil as it can only be used in the STANDARD PUMP and should NEVER be used in the premiere pump because it contains detergent.
