Bucket Rating:
5/5

TIP: Two 2 gallon and One 1 gallon zipper bags of freeze dried candy will fit in a 5 gallon bucket if you are careful about the way you pack them. Put the heavy and dense stuff like skittles at the bottom. Put your light fluffy stuff like Nerds Clusters on top.

5 gallon food-grade buckets are liquid and airtight when used in conjunction with a rubber gasket lid.

Save Your Fingers

TIP: To save your hands and fingernails, use a bucket lid wrench to remove the standard lid.

Want an upgrade that won’t destroy your fingernails or force you to have to keep track of a separate tool? Upgrade to these lids if your budget allows.

For Super Humid Climates

Desiccant Rating:
4/5

Live in a super humid area and need every advantage you can get your hands on? Take this system one step further and put a 50 gram desiccant in the bucket for good measure.

desiccant

50 gram desiccants from “Wisedry” are just about the perfect size for 5 gallons buckets and these are rechargeable.

Storage / Handling

A nested storage technique like this one is advantageous for those like me that live in a hot humid area. The bucket storage system is adequate for the amount of production you’ll get with one freeze dryer in candy mode or with FTM.
